Over the past 30 years, The University of Alabama Center for Economic Development (UACED) has been involved in a wide-ranging diversity of projects throughout the State of Alabama to expand economic and community development efforts. UACED works closely with many UA departments as well as other universities, state and federal agencies and private sector professionals to provide the level of support required. Typical services provided by UACED include: engaging citizens in a community/regional asset-based strategic planning process to identify their needs and develop a plan for achieving viable solutions; facilitate meetings; train elected and civic leaders; developing plans for downtown revitalization; support community efforts to promote tourism and recreation; provide leadership development training; prepare feasibility studies; assist with industry related investments. Types of projects include: Leadership Development, Planning and Technical Assistance for Cities and Counties, Planning and Technical Assistance with Automotive Manufacturing and Disaster Recovery Communities.
