CALL FOR SOUTHWEST ALABAMA AMBASSADORS

Who is a Southwest Alabama Ambassador?

A Southwest Alabama Ambassador is someone who represents our region well through their photos, videos, and captions on social media. It's someone who explores destinations off the beaten path, who seeks adventure that feeds the soul, who captures the beauty, culture, and community of Southwest Alabama, and who shares it with the rest of us. It's someone who ultimately makes us feel like we belong and want to explore for ourselves.

We’re looking for a team of 18 people to be our Southwest Alabama Ambassadors. We want to feature your amazing talent, so we’re looking for people who are exploring, photographing, and posting about Southwest Alabama’s outdoors, destinations, festivals, and food. As a Southwest Alabama Ambassador, you’ll receive:

  • Southwest Alabama swag (t-shirt, etc.)
  • Featured profile on our regional tourism page www.alabamasfrontporches.org.
  • Featured on our social media platforms (we’ll tag you on social to introduce you to our followers and re-share your Southwest Alabama content)
    • @alabamatourist on Instagram and Facebook
    • @frontporches on Facebook
  • Ability to use the title Southwest Alabama Ambassador on your social accounts and website

Our goal for the Southwest Alabama Ambassador program is to find people who are passionate about the Southwest Alabama region and are posting their adventures on social media. We want to highlight your amazing talent to further promote our 9-county region.

Requirements

  • Have a public Instagram account (and be willing to make certain posts on Facebook public)
  • Live, work, or regularly travel in Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Dallas, Marengo, Monroe, Perry, Washington, and/or Wilcox Counties.
  • Passionate about traveling and promoting your community and region
  • Able to commit to the role from November 2021-June 2022

Important Dates

Attendance is mandatory to be an ambassador.
  • Kick-off event on November 17, 2021
  • Mid-point meeting on January 26, 2022
  • Wrap-up meeting in June 2022 (specific date TBD)

Responsibilities

  • Attend ambassador program meetings (x3) and quarterly tourism meetings
  • Attend events and visit tourism destinations throughout the region
  • Share and provide promotional materials with county representatives throughout the region
  • Follow us on social media and tag us in your Southwest Alabama pics
  • Share at least (but not limited to) 3 image posts and 1 video post a month to both Instagram and Facebook; content does not need to be unique to each platform
  • Send us monthly breakdowns of the engagement of your posts (we'll show you exactly what you need)
  • Use the #VisitSouthwestAlabama hashtag on your Southwest Alabama pics
  • Don't use profanity, vulgar language, nudity (or partial nudity), or politics in Southwest Alabama pics we are tagged in and/or using the #VisitSouthwestAlabama hashtag
  • Wear your swag when possible (especially while out taking your pics and videos)

Interested?

Fill out our Southwest Alabama Ambassador application and tell us why you would like to represent Southwest Alabama’s outdoors, attractions, festivals, and food. This isn’t English class, so it doesn’t need to be a super long essay. Just tell us why this program interests you in several thoughtful sentences. We’re not making decisions based on how many followers you have, but rather how passionate you are about Southwest Alabama and how well you represent our beautiful region.

DEADLINE: APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED
ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW AMBASSADORS: October 15, 2021

Questions? Reach out to Candace Johnson Beers at candace.c.johnson@ua.edu.
