Black Belt Treasures Cultural Arts Center - Summer & Fall 2014, Spring 2015
Black Belt Treasures Cultural Arts Center exists to promote the arts, and most especially, the artists in the Black Belt region of the state. The Camden, AL location serves as a gallery and an educational space, with the intention of creating an “arts economy” for the region and over 400 artists through tourism. The Summer 2014 UA Sales team developed a comprehensive crowd funding strategy that will allow Black Belt Treasures to raise funds to overhaul its warehouse to create artist workspace. This strategy included a full layout of the crowd funding itself as well as how it should be backed by marketing efforts, specifically in social media and the company’s digital footprint. The students also generated a full digital marketing strategy to manage the company’s entire digital footprint as well as a membership strategy to help provide value to its members and to gain continued support from people globally. Students were able to make a difference in Camden, not just generate another document that will be slid off an executive’s desk. The high touch interaction with the client and the dedication from the students equipped them with the skills they need in the workforce and with an experience of a lifetime. The Fall 2014 UA Sales team was tasked to rebuild the aging website in an effort to provide a more efficient online sales process, as well as make the space more representative of the organization’s mission. Finding business solutions to generate engagement and online sales was the overall objective. This was done through prospecting of potential customers and developing social media content to drive people to the website. The team launched the new website in November and in its first month it generated 54% more views than the old site. Black Belt Treasures became something the students felt connected to, and seeing their hard work pay off by overwhelming positive responses to the website was a point of pride. Black Belt Treasures will continue to work with a team for the Spring 2015 semester. The new team will build on the efforts from the fall, focusing on generating new business through corporate sponsorships and strategic online engagement across all of the organization’s social media mediums. The team will also research potential opportunities of growth through trade shows and an Alabama Quilting Trail. |
