Black Belt Hospitality Training:
Few industries have felt the effects of the pandemic as much as the hospitality industry. With additional unemployment benefits ending, individuals that may have been laid off due to the decrease in travel in 2020 are now being asked to return to a workforce that pays less than what they were making staying out of the workforce. Add childcare expenses when they return to work and they really are facing a harsh financial reality. The correct training can increase tips, elevate the employee's performance allowing them to have an increased chance of promotion and therefore earn higher wages. Trained hospitality workers also elevate the visitor's experience at the venue - increasing the likelihood they will return and creating business sustainability.
We always hope that everyone will have pride in their chosen career path and represent their company well - but in hospitality it is crucial. It is somewhat unrealistic to expect all employees from all different walks of life, with different experience levels, and different lifestyles to be able to seamlessly provide our visitors with quality hospitality. Hospitality training is needed statewide but especially in the Black Belt Region. This hospitality training will empower service industry employees with the tools needed to attract, retain and grow tourism in the region.

Benefits of the Program:
This program has two certification levels and a graduation designation for the individual as well as the employer so that their place of employment's attention to hospitality is elevated and visible to all who frequent their location. This program will be developed with this region in mind, give real-world examples, role-play with conflict resolution, and explain why quality service affects everyone's quality of life. After graduation, a site visit will be conducted within 6 months for a quality control check and report card that goes back to graduates.
